While the Greater Brisbane lockdown is in progress Speed of Bike will be closed and not accepting any new bookings or allowing pick-ups until the state government has given the all-clear. Once clear, priority will be given to those whose bookings were delayed. If you were expecting to drop your bike off during the lockdown – which at this point extends to Monday at 6 pm – please get in touch through the Contact Us page.
With these being the first school holidays that have counted in 2020 we are takign a short break (September 22 to 25th) to enjoy some sand, sea and cycling. Normal service will resum from Monday, September 28th and we are already taking bookings for the first week of October so be quick!
Speed of Bike will be closed from August 6th through to the 19th (re-opening on the 20th) for a much needed break. Thank you to all of you who have brought your bikes in during the COVID cycling frenzy.
Today marks Speed of Bike’s fourth birthday! It’s been quite a year for all of us and we want to thank all our of customers – returning and new – getting out and cycling the year through, especially during the last four months. We also want to share that children’s services (bikes with wheels smaller than 24″) are now part of the regular work we offer.
Australia has taken to cycling again, and Speed of Bike is here to help you. Whether you’re getting your old pushy on the road, have picked up a secondhand bike or have a new one still in the box – Speed of Bike is your one-stop, local bike-shop. We are also continuing the reduced child service rates – bikes with 24″ or smaller tyres are $45 (with gears) or $35 (without gears) While the situation has improved over the last few months, we are continuing our COVID-19 precautions – all customers are by appointment only and are socially separated by 30-minute bookings. A distance of 1.5 m is actively encouraged and a bottle of hand sanitiser is kept in the workshop. Thanks to everyone who has given us the opportunity to get them back on two wheels. Stay safe, stay healthy and stay to the left!
With restrictions on people gathering in one place, playdates are going to be the thing of the past for the time come, but current government advice is that exercising (with limited interaction) is allowed. Great news if you’ve got kids cooped up and are looking for things to do! With this in mind Speed of Bike is offering basic services on children’s bike – 24″ wheels and under – for $45 (geared bikes) or $35 (non-geared bikes) for the foreseeable future. Please contact us in advance so we can make the necessary preparations for your arrival.
Speed of Bike will continue to operate during the current coronavirus situation under the following conditions: social distancing of at least 1.5 metres will be maintained, no more than one person on the property at any time, no members of the public will be allowed in the workshop, all transactions will be electronic (either through bank transfer or EFTPOS – no cash) and no immediate/rush jobs will be undertaken. On that last point, small jobs like replacing tubes and brake pads will be taken in overnight so as to limit the amount of face-to-face exposure. Please understand that Speed of Bike operates from a private residence, and in order to prevent unnecessary contact we are enacting strict measures to protect ourselves. If a customer is unable to respect our measures they are welcome to take their bike elsewhere, and we will provide recommendations.
With all the rain we are having in Brisbane your bike is sure to be picking up some grime and going through some extra wear and tear. Why not bring your bike in to Speed of Bike to get your bike serviced so that the next time it’s dry and the paths have been cleared you’ll get optimal perfomrance out of your bike, whether your climbing Cootha or careering down Kedron Brook. Call ahead on 0427 497 180 to make a booking!
With the holiday season about to hit, Speed of Bike wanted to wish a happy holiday to all our customers – 2019 was a top notch year and hope you all have a fantastic Chistmas. Speed of Bike will be closed between December 15th and January 15th, 2020. If you need to book a service please email firstname.lastname@example.org and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible. Note that text and voice mail messages will not be received
Coffee drinkers and cyclists in lower Nundah have been without their local beanstop since the closure of the coffee shop on the corner of York Street and Hedley Avenue – but that’s changed now! Just opened is York St Espresso, who have taken over the cornershop that was previously filled by Ultra/Polska. They are serving coffee, cakes, hot sandwiches and breaksfast bowls and are looking forward to the return of the morning cycling crowd, so of you’re in a club share the word around!
